"Felicité" wins FESPACO ultimate award [This is Culture on TMC]

In this week’s Culture segment, Linnete Bahati talks about the just concluded Pan-African film and television festival (FESPACO) in Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou. Felicité of French-Senegalese director Alain Gomis won the prestigious prize, the Golden Stallion of Yennenga.

In honour of anti-imperialist revolutionary Thomas Sankara, a prize was also created during this FESPACO edition to promote his legacy. The award went to Rwandan film “A Place For Myself,” a film that follows the life of a young Rwandan albino girl, Elikia, who has to endure discrimination and stigma when she enrolls in primary school.

Linnete also talks about African women who have influenced and continue to influence women not only in Africa but all over the world ahead of the International Women’s Day.
